Manufacture complex prototypes and low volume production parts with High Efficiency and Accuracy.
About Vacuum Casting & RIM
Marcopolo is one of the leading providers of vacuum casting and reaction injection moulding (RIM) services for rapid prototyping and low volume production. Both processes are cost-effective methods to make complex and large components in a single piece, generating significant time and cost savings compared to other technologies. Parts are made in various grades of Polyurethane that mimic properties of end-use plastic like ABS, PP, etc.
Reaction Injection Moulding (RIM) uses two liquid polymers – polyol and isocyanate – that mix to form polyurethane when injected into the mould. RIM is especially beneficial in making components up to 2m in length, with the tool life going up to 1,000 units depending on the part design and mould material (Aluminum, Wood, ABS or Silicone Rubber).
Vacuum Casting is also a similar process in which the mould is made from silicone rubber, having a tool life of 15 – 30 units usually.
Marcopolo’s third facility in Pune is dedicated for vacuum casting and RIM, meeting growing client needs for high quality prototypes in short lead times.
